In the Margariti village you can visit the complex of watermills which are one of many examples of such installations constructed in Greece during the pre-industrial period.

The two mills, which were made in sequence and with elevation difference between them, in order to exploit the maximum amount of available water, were fed from at least two springs in the surrounding hills. Each mill is a tilled-roofed, one-room building, with a ground area for grinding grain and an arched basement, where there was a horizontal waterwheel initiating the grinding mechanism.

The scenery route continues as we take the road for return in Igoumenitsa city by taking a difficult but breathe taking road with beautiful sceneries and with view of the Ionian sea. Don’t forget to stop to one of the villages that you will find on your route such as Karavostasi, Syvota, Plataria and of course Koutsi in order to taste delicious local recipes, sweets and local tsipouro.
